I keep trying and failing at getting my own pictures of my boys but I really want to show them off so I am posting pictures from previous owners.
First up, Hikaru and Kaoru, albino twins from a litter my friends rat had.
These two will be a year old in April. They are used to seeing people a lot but they didn't get near enough handling. So they come to the bars and door when you go near the cage, they know people bring the good yummies. They will stiff you and get closer but when I try to pet them they still shy away. I am working on this and they are doing better but of course it takes time and patience. I am also still leaning to tell them apart because there personality are very similar. Hikaru has a small red dot on one ear that he has had since birth but sometimes it is hard to see. One is larger then the other but I never remember which.
And this boy I have only had for a few days, his name is Peety.
He came from a family that had kept rats for years, they belonged to the man of the house, but he developed bad allergies to them. When I picked up Peety he had to put gloves on to pick Peety up and had nasty allergy hives up his arm.
Peety is around 8-9 months old, about the same age as the twins. I am not sure what markings he is but I believe he is a dumbo. His ears aren't perfectly round but they aren't standard ears. I have never owned a dumbo or seen one in person though so I don't want to just assume he is. He is much shyer though he will allow me to pet him. I have been working with him as well. He is cared to come out of his cage or be picked up. But yesterday for the first time since I got him he came to the door of the cage! He enjoyed some treats going back to the corner to nibble them before treating for me. This is all a first. Until yesterday he wouldn't even take treats from me. I would try to give them and he would sniff and show interest but never take. I was so proud of him.
I am not sure about him name. I'm not fond of it so I am likely to change it. We will see.
