This weekend I had to do out and do some errands. I wound up at a pet that opened up shortly ago but it isn't in an area of town I get to often so I hadn't been there yet. It is a sister store to one on my side of town. I went it to look around a little and of chose check out all the cute pets they had in. The had a much small fish section then I was expecting as they one in my area has a very large fish section. They have an even small reptile area, again smaller then the other store. And a small rodent are as well, once again smaller then the closer store.
However they have something the closer store doesn't. Dwarfies. I talked with the staff a little about the two Dwarfs they had in, a Winter White Pearl I believe and a white with tan spotting(Now sure the name of this marking.) The girl I spoke with has been trying to handle and hand tame them. The white is doing well, the other is not.
I am happy to see that another store is carrying them. I haven't had dwarfs partly because my house is just isn't ready for them. But my other reason is that the other pet store that had them till now was Pet Cetera. I do NOT like this Pet Store for buying rodents that aren't for feeders. They used to be fine but in the years since I started to breed that have because terrible. The HamHams are never handled, never sexed and are often really really small(young) when they are brought it. When you buy a new rodent from PetCetera they make you sign a form that says they will not guarantee the gender, but they do not even tell you about the form before you pick up you new pet and are about to buy it. The first time this happened I was really annoyed.
I eventually started buying in another city but I can't always drive there to get dwarfs and the only store there that has them only carries males so sex is guaranteed. Leaving me femaleless. I am happy to find them at this new store.
I won't be starting a colony right this minute but soon I think. I miss having them, I love my dwarfs so much. I had to keep myself detached from the litters but my breeders where my babies.
